Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to inform you about an important matter regarding the health and wellbeing of our school community. It has come to our attention that a member of our school community has been diagnosed with whooping cough.
Whooping cough affects people of all ages. It can be especially serious for babies. Vaccination reduces the risk of infection and severe disease.
Signs to look for:
• Whooping cough starts with a runny nose, fever and cough.
• The cough gets worse overnight, and sometimes won’t stop.
• Children may vomit after coughing. Babies can turn blue and may even stop breathing.
I have included the factsheet from NSW Health in a variety of languages below.
