Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
2025 Education Week
In Term 3, we celebrated Education and Book Week. The theme for 2026 was ‘Ignite Your Potential’. We used this week as an opportunity to promote and celebrate the four domains of High Potential Gifted Education- intellectual, physical, social- emotional and creative. Book Week gave us an opportunity to focus on the intellectual domain- highlighting the importance of reading. Students had the opportunity to dress in their favourite book characters and families were invited to participate in our whole school assembly and class shared reading experience.
First Nation Art Club
During Terms 2 and 3, our First Nations students have had the opportunity to work with Ms Trish (Barkindji/Gamilaraay SLSO) and Mr Westy (a local Aboriginal grandparent) to develop their creative art skills through learning about Aboriginal symbols.
Students have been painting boomerangs to represent their identity and family culture. These individual boomerangs will form part of the First Nations 2025 mural, which will be displayed at the school.
High Potential Gifted Education Fairfield cross-network project
In 2025, Fairvale Public School participated in a cross-network project on High Potential Gifted Education, with a focus on the intellectual domain to extend learning in our extension classes.
Our junior class explored the theme "We Are Writers", developing skills in idea articulation and paragraph construction through explicit instruction, targeted learning goals, and feedback.
The senior class focused on "Minds in Motion", undertaking self-directed research projects to strengthen critical and creative thinking.
Through this project, teachers gained deeper insights into student potential and are already planning future learning opportunities to support continued growth.
League Stars Gala Day
Fairvale Public School recently (Term 4, 2025) participated in the League Stars Gala Day, proudly run by the Parramatta Eels.
This exciting event gave students the opportunity to develop their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship through a series of fun, inclusive league activities. The program aligns with the physical domain of supporting High Potential and Gifted Education by challenging students to extend their physical abilities, and apply strategic thinking in a dynamic sporting context.
Beyond skill development, the gala day fostered confidence, resilience, and a love for physical activity—key components in nurturing high potential learners in sport.
“I love being part of the leadership team, knowing that many of my fellow peers voted me in this position. I love that I get to proudly represent them and my school” (2025 School Captain)
“What I like about Fairvale Public School is that we all get along. In my leadership role, I like the friendships that I have developed with all students” (2025 Student Prefect)
